Sustainable
Freedom Of Design

Mission

Our enthusiasm for metallised plastics continues unabated. We have developed a new generation of high-quality real metal surfaces: With unchanged versatile design possibilities, additional options in colouring as well as maximum freedom of form and precision for the design.

The next generation is one thing above all - sustainable. Our new processes protect people even better and conserve resources. The manufactured components are durable, recyclable and reusable.

Our goal is to convey in an inspiring way what real metal surfaces can be today and in the future. We want to give customers and designers the opportunity to make their products better: attractive, robust, flexible, sustainable, emotional and sensually experienceable.

Surfaces

Shiny accents: real metal surfaces

We enable sustainable design freedom and offer designers new perspectives to develop completely new, exciting concepts with perfect and durable real metal surfaces - today and in the future.

3D SURFACES

3D surfaces create interesting light reflections and set stunning accents that perfect the design.

TEXTURES

Textures create unique visual and tactile effects. From brushing and sanding techniques to laser engraving, these technologies offer unlimited creative possibilities in design.

INTERACTION

The real metal surface offers unique opportunities to design the human interface. With metal elements that can be touch-switched and whose transillumination can display search, warning and function indicators, these technologies offer a new dimension of interactivity and user-friendliness.

ROBUSTNESS

Creon is the first choice wherever surfaces have to perform exceptionally well. Resistant to cleaning agents according to the standards of the automotive industry, abrasion-resistant due to real metal, corrosion-resistant and field-tested.

SELECTIVITY

Creon surfaces enable selective coating with a high degree of separation when combining different materials - whether for haptic sensation, a day-night design or for functional aspects.

VALUABILITY

Cool real-metal surfaces combined with the high-quality materials and colour tones of the surrounding components emphasise the value of the entire assembly. In addition, Creon surfaces allow special design options with light and illumination effects.

SUSTAINABILITY

A technology for the future

Creon technology is environmentally friendly and the manufactured components are recyclable by 100%. By the use of CO2-neutral energy, the entire manufacturing process is climate-neutral.

New processes enable the production of Creon real metal surfaces without chromium trioxide and without PFAS. The process-integrated material recycling methods can reduce the impact of manufacturing on the environment without compromising quality and durability. The closed real metal surface avoids the release of microplastics during use.

FACTS ABOUT THE MATERIALS

  • The Creon process is completely free of chromium(VI) and is therefore REACh-compliant even without authorisation.

  • Components coated with Creon real metal are 100% recyclable. The metals are separated from the plastic and recycled. The plastic is regranulated and can be reused without loss of quality in components that receive an electroplated surface.

The manufacturers of Creon surfaces take back galvanised plastic components and recycle them for reuse.

  • Already today Creon components can be produced with up to 50% recycled content. The companies offering these products are continuing to develop with the aim of verifying the technological suitability of bio-based plastics or further increasing the proportion of re-granulates.

  • Plastic components coated with real metal are abrasion-resistant and, unlike painted or uncoated plastic surfaces, do not release plastic abrasion and thus microplastics into the environment in the course of use.

  • Unlike chromium trioxide-based pretreatment steps, Creon does not require fluorinated surfactants. The ingredients of the process steps are treatable in the manufacturers' water treatment plants.

FACTS FOR FABRICATION

  • Creon surfaces are produced climate neutrally in Scopes 1 and 2. The companies achieve this climate neutrality through energy savings, CO2-neutral production of electricity or thermal energy or with certified compensation measures.

  • From an ecological and economic point of view, it makes sense to minimise the use of resources, to recover valuable materials and water and to return them to the production cycle. Technological solutions are available for the partial or complete recovery of numerous resources.

  • The safety and protection of employees has been of utmost importance to the FGK members for years and has long been lived practice. To this end, workplace conditions are regularly checked and optimised, if necessary. A biomonitoring system complements the measures. The FGK working group on occupational safety regularly exchanges information on safety standards and further possible improvements.

How we move our industry forward
Innovative plants and projects

FULLY AUTOMATIC PLATING LINES

State-of-the-art control systems ensure precise production processes and quality at the highest level. Process-controlled dosing equipment minimises manual intervention and protects personnel.

ROBOTICS IN MANUFACTURING

Automated transport and processing systems achieve the best quality at the highest level. In the future, modern placement systems will reduce dependence on the scarce resource of personnel.

AUTOMATED VISUAL INSPECTION

Already today, the first fully automated inspection systems are capable of performing 100% visual inspection according to customer requirements. The integration of AI and the expansion of these automation solutions are part of our common future.

SUPPORTING COMPANIES AND SPONSORS

Creon Metal Surfaces is an initiative of the Fachverband Galvanisierte Kunststoffe (FGK). The use of the trademark "Creon Metal Surfaces" within the framework of a licence agreement is only possible for companies that meet the high requirements of the trademark or will meet them with the start of the first deliveries of these surfaces.
